What to Bring to Your First Appointment

I approach you as a whole person, not as a disease or symptom.

Each of us creates wellness daily through a series of informed choices. My services are designed to help you identify your health goals; make choices that support these goals and guide you to the resources you need to create and maintain wellness in your life.

I define health as state of dynamic equilibrium that requires self-awareness, flexibility on all levels, and willingness to examine the habits, beliefs and situations that affect your mental, physical and spiritual well-being.

I see myself as a member of your wellness team who provides guidance and support while you journey towards vitality, health and a meaningful life.
One-hour health and lifestyle assessment interview, followed by recommendations of how to achieve your health goals through dietary and lifestyle changes, nutritional supplements and herbal formulas.

Near the end of your first visit, you will receive recommendations and specific suggestions and strategies of how to improve your health.

Follow up by phone or emails to discuss recommendations and answer any questions.
I am a clinical herbalist, author and teacher. I bring to my classes, lectures and practice sixteen years experience as a practitioner with a solid background in the therapeutic use of herbs and my innate understanding of the energetic patterns that contribute to health and wellness.
Since 1995, I have been a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild. Membership is based on peer-reviewed trainings and clinical experience. Professional requirements include yearly continuing education in the field of clinical herbalism.
I am the author of Medicinal Plants of the Southern Appalachians (2006).
Initial consultation (approximately one hour): review of your health history, lifestyle and current health concerns and goals.
Guidance, support and assistance in how to purchase recommended herbs and supplements.
I frequently lecture about my work with herbs. Among these audiences are: The Southeastern Women’s Herb Conference; The International Congress of Ethnobiology; The American Herbalists Guild; Emory University School of Medicine; The University of Georgia School of Pharmacy; Atlanta Botanical Garden; Georgia Holistic Veterinary Medicine Association; the International Herb Association; Georgia Master Gardeners Annual Conference; Highlands, North Carolina Biological Station; State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

Consultation Fees
The fee for the initial appointment is $125.00. Follow-up consultations are $90 per hour. Visa, MasterCard, personal checks or cash payments are accepted.
Cost of Recommended Herbs
The cost of recommended herbs or supplements is not included in the consultation fee. Prices vary. We may suggest you order herbs directly from our recommended sources, or ship custom formulas to you.

Please Note: No services are available to address life-threatening situations or emergencies. Should such circumstances develop, we recommend that you immediately contact or visit the emergency room nearest you. Services are available by appointment only and are limited to wellness consultations and health assessments. Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the appointment time reserved for you, or you will be charged a $50.00 cancellation fee, payable before your appointment can be rescheduled.
What to bring with you to your first appointment:

A complete, detailed, written food diary. Carefully note all food and beverages consumed for five days in a row. Please note times of day and amounts of food or drink. Don't forget to include snacks, treats, water, and alcoholic beverages. If you are suffering from any problems that may be related to your diet, please note in your food diary when acute symptoms occur.

A complete, written, list of all pharmaceutical drugs (prescription and over-the-counter); supplements; energy/sports/protein drinks; herbs and recreational drugs you have used in the past six months. Please note product name, ingredients, dosage and frequency of use for each item. If you prefer, you many bring these items with you to the appointment.
